Important allergen information for GG’s Homemade Sourdough
At GG’s Homemade Sourdough, our loaves and starter kits are prepared in a home kitchen where allergens may be present.
We take care when preparing our products, but because everything is made in the same kitchen environment, we cannot guarantee that any product is completely free from allergens or traces of allergens.
If you have a food allergy, intolerance, coeliac disease, or any specific dietary requirement, please contact us before ordering so we can talk through the ingredients used.
Main allergen notice
Most GG’s sourdough products contain or may contain:
Wheat / gluten
Our sourdough loaves and starter kits are made using flour, which contains gluten. This means they are not suitable for people with a wheat allergy or coeliac disease.
Some products may also contain or come into contact with other allergens depending on the loaf, inclusion, starter kit, ingredient supplier, or preparation area.
The 14 regulated allergens
UK food law identifies 14 regulated allergens that food businesses must declare when used as ingredients. These are: celery, cereals containing gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, lupin, milk, molluscs, mustard, peanuts, sesame, soybeans, sulphur dioxide/sulphites, and tree nuts.
At GG’s Homemade Sourdough, products may contain or be prepared in an environment where the following allergens are present:
- Cereals containing gluten: including wheat flour and other gluten-containing flours.
- Milk: may be present in cheese-based inclusion loaves.
- Eggs: may be present in some recipes, bakes, kitchen ingredients or seasonal products.
- Tree nuts: may be present in some inclusions, seasonal recipes or kitchen ingredients.
- Peanuts: may be present in the kitchen or in ingredients used for other household/seasonal bakes.
- Sesame: may be present in seeded loaves, toppings or kitchen ingredients.
- Soya: may be present in some ingredients, chocolate, toppings, spreads or supplier-produced ingredients.
- Mustard: may be present in some savoury ingredients or kitchen products.
- Sulphur dioxide / sulphites: may be present in some dried fruits, preserved ingredients or supplier-produced inclusions.
- Celery, crustaceans, fish, lupin and molluscs: not normally used in GG’s sourdough products, but we still cannot guarantee absence from the wider kitchen environment or supplier ingredients.

Plain sourdough loaves usually contain:
Wheat flour, water, sourdough starter and salt
Allergen: wheat / gluten
Inclusion loaves
Inclusion loaves vary depending on what is being baked that week.
Possible examples:
Cheese loaf
Contains: wheat / gluten, milk
Jalapeño & cheese loaf
Contains: wheat / gluten, milk
Olive & rosemary loaf
Contains: wheat / gluten
May contain other allergens depending on the olives or supplier ingredients.
Rhubarb loaf
Contains: wheat / gluten
May contain other allergens depending on the recipe and ingredients used.
Seeded loaf
Contains: wheat / gluten
May contain: sesame or other seeds depending on the mix used.
Please ask before ordering if you need the allergen information for a specific inclusion loaf.
Starters
Live active starter kits
Live active starter kits usually contain:
Wheat flour and water
Allergen: wheat / gluten
Dehydrated starter kits
Dehydrated starter kits usually contain:
Dehydrated sourdough starter made from wheat flour and water
Allergen: wheat / gluten
Starter kits are not suitable for people with coeliac disease or a wheat/gluten allergy.
Cross contamination notice
GG’s products are prepared in a home kitchen where allergens may be stored, handled or used.
Although care is taken, we cannot guarantee that products are free from traces of allergens due to:
- Shared kitchen space
- Shared preparation areas
- Shared utensils or equipment
- Supplier ingredients
- Seasonal or household ingredients stored in the same environment
If you have a severe allergy, please contact us before ordering. Depending on the allergy, GG’s may be unable to safely fulfil the order.
